Zig Zag's Library & Resources

Zig Zag has a library available to all women and is accessible during Zig Zag's office hours. The library contains a number of reference books/journals/articles that are available for perusal. There are also several articles that may be borrowed including books, cd's, tapes, videos and information kits. This is achieved by filling out a simple library borrowing registration. Items can be borrowed for up to two weeks, with the option of renewal.

 Zig Zag has produced the following resources that are available for purchase from the Centre:

Pandora's Box - Pandora's Box is an information and support resource for young women and workers dealing with and fighting against sexual violence. Young women's poetry, writings and artwork have been used throughout the resource and were contributed by young women from the Young Women's Resource Group.
$10.00 per copy
$ 6 each for orders over 10 copies
$5 per copy for young women

"Making a complaint to the Police " - Information for women who have experienced sexual violence

This resource was developed for young women with the purpose of explaining both the process involved in making a statement about sexual violence to the police as well as young women's rights in relation to this process. The resource was researched with the police and other Sexual Assault services.
Cost: $3.00 per copy

Healing is Possible- 1997 Cost - $3.50 each This resource is a small booklet that covers myths about sexual assault, medical and health information, effects of abuse and information on counselling and support groups. 

Working with Young Women who Self-harm: A resource for workers
A resource which explores the use of mindfulness in supporting young women who self-harm, in a group context.  It outlines a young women’s understanding of self harm and how’s it’s used in recovery from sexual assault.  The resource discussed concepts for workers supporting young women who self-harm and offers guidelines for the group setting.

Feminist Management in Community Services (Available in library)
Produced in 1993, this paper explores management issues for feminist organisations. The discussion describes some existing models of management which are used by agencies identifying themselves as feminist. It offers some analysis of the successes and difficulties which have emerged from different models, identified both by women involved with organisations and writers on the topic.

Young Women's Support Group - 1995 (Available in library) This resource provides a comprehensive outline of running a support group for young women who experience sexual abuse. This resource is useful to workers engaging in group work with young women around a range of issues.

Connecting the Threads Second Edition - 1994 (Available in library)A Resource for workers working with young women who have experienced sexual abuse. This resource provides very practical skills and tools that workers can use when working with young women either individually or within groups. Connecting the Threads consists of four booklets.

Curtains and Plates and Someplace Safe (Available in library) This report explores the inter-relatedness between young women's experiences of homelessness and sexual violence. The resource documents the results of a consultative research process undertaken with young women and workers and proposes a model of practice incorporating information gathered from Interstate services.
