What is Zig Zag?

	What is Zig Zag? Zig Zag Young Womenís Resource Centre Inc. is a resource centre for young women aged 12 to 25 years. The service was established to resource those working with young women, to improve service responses to the needs of young women, as well as providing direct support to young women. We focus on a number of issue areas. Currently they are - homelessness and associated support issues and sexual assault. Processes are determined in consultation with young women. Our Aim is to provide a safe place where young women can:
	ask questions
	access resources
	seek information
	Zig Zag consists of :
	a housing team, employing three housing workers
	a sexual abuse team, employing two sexual abuse workers and a Community Educator/Trainer
	a centre support team employing two centre support workers - one with financial/administrative focus and one with an organisational/policy focus.
	a librarian, one day per fortnight
	A range of services are provided by the specific teams and the organisation generally. These include:
	medium term housing for single young women and young women who are pregnant and/or parenting
	information and referral
	counselling (general and sexual assault) and support
	young womens' groups
	community education workshops
	training workers
	resource production and library
